The “Style Reference” feature in Image Guidance allows you to automatically adopt the style of a base image in your generated images. Conversely, “Content Reference” lets you retain the content of a base image while altering the style based on the generation.
An effective approach is to merge both techniques to apply a style to an existing picture.
Step #1: Navigate to the Image Generation section and click “add an image to get started” to upload the picture you want to modify.
Step #2: Set the Image Guidance to “Content Reference”
On the bottom left corner of the picture, click the small square to match the size of the base image for the upcoming generation automatically.
Step #3: Upload the picture from which you wish to borrow the style and set the Image Guidance mode to “Style Reference.” For instance, we’ll use the classic “Great Wave Off Kanagawa” painting as an example.
For now, leave the Content Reference and Style Reference settings at default.
Step #4: Provide a brief prompt describing the characters and setting of the original image.
For optimal results, select a model that suits the desired outcome. In this instance, AlbedoBase XL is suitable for artistic drawings and paintings.
You can also enable “Alchemy” and choose a relevant preset. (For a photorealistic outcome, consider using the “Leonardo Vision XL” model and the “Dynamic” preset.)
Step #5: Now click “Generate” and select your preferred result!
Notice how it integrates patterns and colors sensibly with the scene’s setting instead of simply overlaying waves everywhere.
You can also experiment with the strength of the content and style references to encourage the system to apply the style more assertively and be more creative with the image’s content.
