Meet the artist
For his Imagination Fund project, Lucas expanded Anotherworld into a cinematic short film with a 360° VR experience built from the project’s core imagery.
Based just outside of Paris, Lucas is the creator of AnotherWorld. In this surreal world on social media, he invites his audience to explore dreams and all emotions they evoke. To him, there’s nothing more mysterious, infinite and universal than the subconscious mind.
“A lot of people comment on my work: ‘Why do I feel like I’ve seen the places shown in your videos? I feel like I’ve dreamt this before.”
The idea for AnotherWorld came quite unexpectedly. What started as a TikTok page for posting his AI generated art slowly morphed into a channel dedicated to exploring deeply surreal, liminal spaces. And it was from this that AnotherWorld was born.
For Lucas, being a content creator on social media has come with it’s ups and downs. While he’s reached a large audience on platforms like TikTok, he always felt constrained by the nature of short form content compared to the limitless nature of AnotherWorld. There’s always so much more he wanted to show his audience.
“I wanted to move away from short-format videos to expand the types of stories I could tell.”
When he stumbled upon the Imagination Fund, Lucas saw an opening. He began to play with the possibility of turning his short-form world into a fully-immersive experience.
Inside the creative process
To bring his vision to life, he set out to create a five-minute short film and 360° VR experience diving deeper into AnotherWorld.
Working largely on his own, Lucas used AI throughout the process to shape environments and test ideas. His biggest challenge was balancing the dream-like nature of AnotherWorld with realistic elements. To Lucas, it’s that delicate balance that creates a dreamy quality in his work.
“I was focused on sticking to my plan. And Leonardo helped me keep my overall vision intact from the beginning.”
During production, he kept Leonardo.Ai running constantly to build the visual skeleton of his work. This allowed him to strengthen his visual consistency for long form content. Finding this workflow proved essential for Lucas. During production, this let him quickly reuse and iterate assets while staying true to the dream-like nature of AnotherWorld.
Pushing their craft forward
Lucas is vocal about the fact that while AI serves as his medium of choice, the core vision of his work is very much personal.
He sees Leonardo as a creative partner that allows him to prototype and test his most unrealistic visions at a speed that traditional methods couldn’t match.
“This project completely took me out of my comfort zone.”
Lucas sees the continuous project that AnotherWorld has become as a personal challenge to step out of his comfort zone and create. Ultimately, Lucas aims to show us that AI-assisted art can be just as emotional as any other artistic medium.
