Kat from the BD team here, excited to share a recap from Leonardo.Ai’s time at the inaugural SXSW Tech and Innovation expo in Sydney, Australia.
Getting Hands on with GenAI
The expo kicked off with a bang as we partnered with AWS and Vercel to host our Digital Creativity Competition. Attendees could create Sydney-themed images using the Leonardo Production API, with the winners scoring prizes including AWS credits.
The submissions we received were seriously impressive – choosing winners was no easy task! Massive thank you to everyone who entered and a huge congratulations to our winners.

Over the four-day expo, our team gave hands-on demos showcasing Leonardo.Ai’s latest and greatest features like Elements, PhotoReal, new platform models, and our “I’m Feeling Lucky” prompt generator which quickly became an attendee favorite.
Our conversations sparked ideas for use cases across businesses and industries, including film and TV, e-commerce, real estate marketing and more. We met amazing people, including both existing Leonardo.Ai users and newcomers eager to explore generative AI with the team.

Inspiring Talks, Industry Connections and More!
We got some great interest from the education space, with universities and other providers seeing the value in an accessible, creative AI tool for students and faculty alike. It was exciting to see people generate images for their own applications, live on the floor. It really highlighted the power of generative AI to augment and enhance creativity!
Beyond our booth, we were stoked to be able to co-host our own event on AI and the future of content creation alongside AWS. Our Co-Founder and COO Jachin spoke to Joel Kirk from AWS for Games, exploring our origin story and taking questions from the audience on the evolving creative AI space.

Around town, we got the chance to take in some inspiring talks on AI, culture, gaming and robotics. A team highlight was the TikTok House of Music Discovery event. It was an awesome night featuring emerging Australian artists alongside veteran performer Ben Lee, whose music is finding a new audience thanks to TikTok. The energy celebrating both new and established talent was incredible!
Overall, the expo was an awesome opportunity to demo our platform to a diverse audience. The overwhelmingly positive response from both new users at SXSW and signups since then has our team excited for the future and the transformative potential of this technology.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, created amazing images, and took the time to chat with us. Can’t wait to see you at the next expo!
